One of the first patterns I ever designed, the Dahlia Cowl is cute, feminine, and FAST. (Get the pattern for the matching headband here.) Scroll down for the FREE pattern!
Inspiration:
I designed the Dahlia Cowl after coming up with idea for the Dahlia Headband; I wanted to create a matching cowl! I decided to make a simple cowl instead of a longer scarf or infinity scarf to keep in theme with the simplicity and easy styling of the Dahlia Headband. I wanted something warm, but quick and easy to put on without having to fuss with it! Sometimes there are days when I can’t spare the three minutes it takes to make sure my scarf is laying just right. If you can relate to that, the Dahlia Cowl is perfect for you!
The Dahlia Cowl is just as simple to make as it is to style – made from one rectangle that is seamed together to form a tube, it is perfect for a beginner crocheter.

Yarn:
The yarn I chose for the Dahlia Cowl is one of my favorites – Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick. This is seriously one of my favorite category 6 Super Bulky yarns ever. It’s soft, easy to care for, and comes in about a million colorways. Solids, stripes, variegated, you name it. They even have it in a wool-free version if you’re sensitive to wool or if you prefer vegan fibers. I’ve made the Dahlia Cowl in a ton of different colors! Pictured below is the Dahlia Cowl in the color Wheat.
Techniques:
The Dahlia Cowl is made from one rectangle that is seamed together to form a tube. Its created using the grit stitch, which is a one row repeating pattern made from just single and double crochets. Once the rectangle is finished, it is seamed up with slip stitches and that’s it! Your very own Dahlia Cowl! It works up in about one hour!
